Matteo (Première époque 1914-1915)

L’histoire commence au Pays Basque, peu avant la première guerre mondiale. Matteo, élevé dans une famille antimilitariste semble être le seul homme à échapper à l’hystérie qui saisit chacun. Fils d’étranger, il n’est pas obligé de partir au front, alors que tous rêvent d’en découdre avec les Boches, et de se retrouver « à Noël à Berlin ! ».
Mais Matteo est amoureux de Juliette, qui n’a d’yeux que pour un bel aviateur, qui lui, n’est pas un lâche. Matteo décide donc de s’engager…
Un premier tome (sur quatre prévus) qui prend son temps pour installer un histoire que l’on sent pleine de promesses, et superbement servi par l’univers graphique très maîtrisé de Gibrat.
